Portra 400

At least they seem to be enjoying the experience (of being waylaid by a man in a fedora...). ;)

I like this very much. The vanishing point has something mesmerising about it. Congratulations!

I guess all the shitty weather we've had here in NYC is her fault....

Wow Phil, this is a great photograph. I also like how it visually collides with Hillavoider's very good image below. It's almost difficult to imagine a greater contrast between two ecosystems.

Truly delightful and, on a slightly nerdy technical note, perfectly exposed.

Brings back memories of being there on a beautiful December day in 2014.  The dunes were covered in dry powdery snow, I could have walked forever!  Nice image.

This is from one of the satellite islands surrounding Gotland, called Stora (or Big; not surprisingly there's a Little one too) Karlsö, and shows a great black cormorant (phalacrocorax carbo sinensis) drying its feathers in the sun. Since these birds don't have fatty feathers they get completely soaked when they dive to catch fish. The upside is that they can dive deeper (5+ metres) and catch fish other birds can't reach. Our guide told us that in less enlightened days the fact that these birds stood like black crosses was seen as omens of bad things to come. These days we know they're just trying to get warm again :)
