Superb Michel lucky to have so much snow for photography

It seems you have now "the day after" type of weather

Best

Henry

Merci Henry,

Winter photography is excellent here. There is always a balance between going out into the cold and picture opportunities.

Here, we clearly remember that Voltaire once described Québec as “quelques arpents de neige”.

A few acres of snow.

We have made some progress since the days of Voltaire. He never visited, so we can discount him a little.

Bonne année pour 2018.

A difficult light condition picture Massimo

It seems for me grain is bigger in comparison with TX ?

You cropped ?

Best

Henry

Quite difficult, it was around 7PM in a very dark evening.

However no crop, the grain maybe is due to developer I used (R09) or/and the scan.

Usually the Kentmere 400 is very very similar to an Ilford HP5 Plus (someone says that is actually the old HP5 formula)

Wayne you make miracle with your camera Wayne

Thank you so much, Henry. I notice that when temperature get well below freezing, the air seems to be perfectly clear. It is a real festival for the eyes, if the rest of the body can be persuaded to ignore the discomfort. The shadows seem a bit harder, too. In my youth I was advised by an instructor, Mr. IL Woong Kim, " Ignore discomfort....Cold build tenacity. Good comes from tenacity." As far as photography is concerned, I think he was right.

Thanks again.

Best,

Wayne

Well, what do you know...  there's even one with a book in hand. That is a pretty rare sight too !

I keep waiting for somebody to declare the public use of a cell phone as.....tacky........passe'. I have always seen France as the guidepost for classy behavior. The revolution should start there. :)

Henry, will you lead the charge?

Best,

Wayne

Simply wonderful, Michael!

This is a section of the Lachine Canal, near Montreal.

The St Lawrence River is the major water route to the centre of North America. There is a rapids just up river from Montreal (at Lachine), which required building a canal in the 18th century. Over the years the old canal has been replaced with ever larger waterways, but this is part of Canada’s story.

We are concentrated currently on staying warm – we are in the middle of a serious deep freeze. I woke up to –30C.

Very nice, Henry.  You are getting closer!  Nice!

Welcome to the forum. The photographs are beautiful. I see these were taken in California, and that the kids are wearing heavy coats. So, it must be, what....50 degrees? :)

Best,

Artic Wayne

Thanks Wayne. Haha, yeah it was like 56 I think.

Thank you, NYC is a candy store for photography for sure.  San your camera just about any place and show it to the world and they can talk your ear off about how they ere there once and wish they could go back.  That's the somewhat of a unique emotion that NYC photography elicits from people.   It's a crutch for the photographically challenged - and I milk it for everything I can :)

Hey Carlos - great bright, crisp photos with lovely Ektar colors.  Keep up the great work and hope to see more of your photos here!

Thanks, Henry.  I am in agreement with you not he Ektar!

Thanks, Philip.  Once case in which persistence paid off :)

Very interesting, Wayne.  Thanks for sharing your thoughts around this.  Park Avenue between the upper 40s and the lower 60s showcases outdoor art pretty much all the time.  The displays rotate every few months.  This sculpture was featured during the Spring months of last year.   My sense is that this type of art is made to be showcased outdoors and there really aren't that many prominent outdoor "art galleries"  - Park Avenue is up their on the top of the list!  Just think about the volume of views from all of the hundreds of thousand tourists, not to mention the saturation of "top 1%'er" that trek Park Avenue every day.  Like that famous Sinatra song, "if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere...it's up to you New York. New York..........." :)

Mega good, Patrick.  You might consider the leveling; on my screen it looks like it could benefit from a slight tilt to the right.  But really love the shot!

Thank you Adam. Looking at everyone's posts here is a lot of fun.
