I like film...(open thread)

I rediscovered a somewhat enthusiastic piece I once wrote in a blog and I'd like to share some relevant excerpts with you all:

"[…] I, too, shoot digital but my beloved workflow is around film. That I never hid, neither did I deny that photographic equipment has been intertwined with my way of shooting. As a matter of fact, I choose images I upload […] that reflect those interests: black & white film and fine photographic equipment.

"People who lean towards film do so for a variety of reasons; mine are the inherent imperfections of the medium. Imperfections imply experimentation and originality—perhaps some mystery, too. My photos [...] are imperfect shots in a number of ways. They aim at viewers […] who want to gaze at and acquire photographs that murmur stories. That demands freedom in interpretation and the photograph’s defect is the provider.

"One could make a defective image with a modern digital camera, but that would be intentional and artificial. For an imperfect shot, the perfect tool is a fully mechanical camera, like Nikon F or Hasselblad V. I am helplessly attracted to such systems, those all-metal, all-manual bodies and their prime lenses. My little Leica—“my camera”—is with me for twenty years now and will easily outlive me. I am proud of my film cameras […]"

Reading it again now, I don't see much has change inside me.

Two more Kodachrome digitalizations (BEOON+Focotar-2 50mm + M10), from 1989, of Fuji-san:

Wonderful captures, with the second being my favorite for the reflection :)

I continue with Cinestill 800 and the famous windows of Notre Dame (Paris) for Doc Henry, who seems to back:

We are now heading into preparations for the upcoming holiday of Sukkot, including the purchase of the four "spices" that will be ceremoniously shaken.  There are innumerable laws regarding the level of acceptable blemishes on the etrog; clearly, the more perfect and blemish-free the better!

In about an hour I will be headed to Brooklyn to document some of the interesting aspects of this preparation.  I'm still debating which film to bring...

These are from last season (though not yet shared with anyone) with Fuji Pro 400H

Hassy 503cw, 80mm Planar

Many thanks, Edward and Chris.

Chris - With that impression from a mere website encounter, I'd love to see what kind of impact on you an actual visit to the store would have! LOL

Fantastic, Adam! Love your people documentary shots! Looking forward for more.

Fascinating, Adam. I confess I hadn't heard of this holiday until a few years back when the B&H website caused me to look it up as I couldn't buy whatever gewgaw I wanted because they were closed for it.
