Wayne Posted March 24, 2018 Share #48793 Posted March 24, 2018 My latest shipment of Svema 32.....Straight from Russia. Even if the film is spoiled, receiving a packag wrapped like this, in 2018, makes it worth the experience. Please excuse the digital shot. Leica C.......A fine little camera. Welcome, dear visitor! EoinC Posted March 24, 2018 Share #48794 Posted March 24, 2018 It's a long time between visits at the moment. I did manage to develop a few films from earlier in the year in the wee hours of the mornings this week. I moved from my favourite Rodinal across to DDX for a few rolls of Tri-X, resulting in uber contrast, which I kind of like, too. Aussie Nat's Sprints, with Kaarle McCulloch about to overtake... EoinC Posted March 24, 2018 Share #48800 Posted March 24, 2018 Thanks, David. Because I was getting slack (or distracted with work), I was leaving long gaps between developing a stack of films that were sitting around. My stock solution of 1:50 Rodinal was exposed to air, and producing very flat negatives. I have a few bottles of DDX that I haven't touched, so decided to do some 1:9 one-shot rounds with it, and the negatives would make a teaspoon stand up. I quite like the deep blacks and shadows, with a sharp step over to the highlights. Not better - just different. I've been so happy with my Rodinal regime that I have forgotten about other looks. The 50 (55) is good to use -Being manual focus, it just means preparing on when to get the shot, panning, and praying...
