Giambologna - The Rape of the Sabine Women, Loggia della Signoria, Florence 1980

Canon A1, CT18 transparency film

Then 25 years later, Antonioni directs a film short titled The Dangerous Thread of Things in the Eros trilogy, which certainly seems to channel this awesome portrait you have made here. Talk about cinematic! If only John Keats had a camera instead of a pen, what ekphrastic poetry he would write in a visual vernacular.

Thank you Rog. Yes, I struggled a bit with Eros, I must admit, although the great director always had a great eye for female beauty and of course an abiding interest in the way interpersonal relationships could take a turn for the worse, so I'm sure he stood transfixed in front of this great work as did I and anyone else fortunate enough to visit Florence. And now ekhrastic poetry has been added to the long list of things I had no idea of. But, having researched it a bit, it is something very wonderful that I am glad you have alerted me to.

And a very large tip of the hat to Waiting Redux and your concept of "editing to nothingness". Wow! That could certainly lead to some interesting interpretation!

Very good composition with two Fedora men!

btw: I really like your new avatar Adam, why did you not wear these clothes when we met in NY? Ahh sorry, I forgot: street photography with boxing gloves does not work!

The camera is a gift from my brother (Weihnachten?! 😮). Bought at a flea market in Denmark for 15 €. Today I have exposed the first film. This is the very first photo I made. No Photoshop or Silver Efex editing.

Wow, AWESOME, Phil.  You made sweet lemonade out of those blue hues in the shadows.  They combine so well with the green and the red.  Bravo!
