Believe that the vertical/horizontal question has been studied. The results, as I remember were that a majority of pictures are vertical. That is true of my pictures over 40+ years. My ration would likely be 2/3 ; 1/3 vertical/horizontal. A quick sample of pictures I have posted here confirms that.

This is such a beautiful photograph! The simple colour palette, the clean shapes, and what is out of focus remains sufficiently informative to give the viewer an idea of the situation.

Love the set, Rog.  Especially the first, the color palette is sublime.

Thanks Wayne. I've just bitten the bullet and taken out premium membership, so the inbox should be liberated - at least for a while...

Could not agree with you more about those special qualities of film. I also find that scans - and prints from scans - lack "life" compared with darkroom prints. And darkroom prints innately carry within them always the human hand/mind process that developed/created them. The process and the tactility of film is indeed magic - there is no substitute for that.

I watched and highly recommend this fascinating and instructive video interview with Trent Parke last night wherein he expounds on precisely the same qualities of film:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHVXEzfo6DQ

Phil, thanks so much for trotting Trent Parke centerstage because I had not seen his work. WOW is one of those words spelled the same backwards and frontwards and in the mirror, zigging and zagging down the analog freeway.  Thanks for the YouTube link. Trent is just a little north of mercurial.  Here tell that Starbucks is negotiating for rights to a quad espresso drink they have dubbed the Trent Analog!  Wake up in the morning, grab your Leica,  throw down a steaming Trent Analog Quad Espresso, and be Amazing.

Here are a few more YouTube links:

Married John H. Malona 1858 who died 1862. Re-photographed from the original 1858 wedding photograph, but intentionally blurred and imploded with ADOX. Included my 19th century vintage wood letterpress type. Everyone needs an alphabet.
