I have always been a sucker for a pretty face. I think she saw it right away, and hung out with me as I wandered around shooting Small Town America. A sad farewell. I would have loved to see the pups, when they arrived.

I recall my amazement at the durability of the mosaic work found in ancient Roman ruins. When stationed in Gaeta, Italy, we would travel the Italian countryside and visit remote ruins. These were not, at the time, the famous ruins, but rather, old neglected sites that did not see much tourist traffic. Much of the mosaic work always seemed largely intact....even in good shape. This old mosaic work for the entranceway of this long demolished building made me think of younger days in Italy. I should have eaten more. :)

FILM COMPARISON TIME!! Velvia 100 vs Ektar 100. The battle of the 100 ISOs!!!

From the Tel Aviv Marina

503cw, 80mm Planar + Mutar 2x Tele converter

TLV Marinsa comparison1.jpg

Another beautiful shot, Adam. I personally prefer the velvia 100 version because of the more saturated sky and the more attractive and natural creamy white color of the boats. The Ektar renders them more saturated and warmer in tone.

I really like this one, Phil. A nice moment with a wonderful subject and particularly good processing and tonality. What is "K2"? And would you mind sharing how you get the border you have? Thanks.

You seem to be on a bit of a roll at the moment, Wayne. Very impressive work.

I don't know about happening and not happening but I like how the shape of the central pile is echoed at different scales throughout the composition. Very good.

I don't know about you, but I'm attracted to these sorts of anonymous landscapes where things seem to between happening and not happening:

Thanks a lot, sincerely, John and Ian.

John - K2 is the yellow filter I sometimes use for my black and white pics. I find it sometimes just adds a bit more "oomph" to skies. For the border, I cut the area of one of the cardboard 35mm masks I have for my Coolscan 9000 so that the rebate area of the negative is scanned with the neg itself. I then attempt to crop it to get a fairly thin line around the picture. It's what I did in the darkroom, too - filing down the metal edges of my negative carriers to print a black border. I guess old habits die hard.

Ian - thank you for your acute insight. I'll admit I hadn't even grokked that echoing until your mention of it.

Ran when parked.

or

It's not for sale, I'm going to restore it one day.

:)

Nicely captured!

Or in the case of my 1964 Pontiac Tempest convertible (white over baby blue interior), I assured my dear wife that the derelict looking carcass in the driveway was assuredly "accumulating value." Much to my surprise, it did. And as the purchaser uttered, with each $100 bill counted and placed in my hand, "my wife is going to kill me. My wife is going to kill me. My wife is going to kill me." Thirteen times.  I never heard from him again....
