I'm working on peatlands rewetting and restoration. Like the picture above, the image below is part of that series. Wet and healthy, peat-rich fen in agricultural use in Brandenburg, Germany

Leica M6, Kodak 5222 250T @ EI 200 in Xtol, Summicron M 35mm ASPH @ f8.

Dried-out peat, effectively sealing the soil's surface, preventing water from sinking in.

Formerly degraded peatland (fen). The water table was raised in 2021, effectively stopping the degradation of the organic peat and thus reducing greenhouse gas emissions dramatically. The bluish leaves are reed that was absent and now takes over. At some point, the reed will be partially substituted by heather and perhaps accompanied by sphagnum moss when the water is acidic enough.

Xicara, these MF-photos are excellent. You should use the camera more.

Thanks very much Klaus. It's a camera that I've repeatedly tried to bring myself to sell but can never do it! I have time today and a roll of film. If the weather's good I'll be out to take photos of my favourite Oscar Niemeyer tower later this afternoon. 🙂

Cattle grazing a coastal moor that incorporates a healthy peatlands layer, which grows one millimetre per year since the area is protected. The peat layer functions as a sponge and can take over 30 times its weight in water, thus helping to protect the nearby village from flooding. The cattle play an essential part in that particular ecosystem.

Black alders can grow in healthy peatlands and could play a role in climate-friendly peatlands forestry. Brandenburg, Germany.

Don´t sell it. I made that mistake 25 years ago.

Interesting, Hans. These peatlands are amazing habitats.

Aryel, as much as I like your family photos, this is wonderful too.... And don't tell us that you didn't arrange this.😀

The photo was taken in Tiong Bahru. The chairs have been there for quite some time. I am quite sure that they are being used but I did not get a chance to see by whom yet.
I wish I was smart enough to have arranged it 😁

Thanks a lot for your encouraging words.
