a mystery story again.. what happened in space 16 and was the Electric Hazard warning painted over to lure me onto that field ?  To cross the  red bridge needed a decision anyway-and I should have known I´d be  in trouble .. I wonder, if the hazard sticker will turn red again upon entering the field..😟

Rog, you must have a HUGE collection of surfaces ... how do you keep track ? Filing them by colors-color families, structures.....? Or just your memory moving in your personal "Wunderkammer" ? An eye-moving assembly here. It makes my eyes move in a circular way--and- I don't know why, the anti-clockwise movement feels better than the clockwise movement.  It may be the ( pseudo-3 D)  step between the crimson and the orange field on the left... Mind the step !

Everything's gonna be all right, Klaus. Just remember, Nurse Ratched has responsibilities, and she's your friend. She has only your well-being in mind, and that little joke she made about the Sears Die Hard was just that--a little joke.

"What happened in space 16?" My goodness, Klaus. They are only colors and the number 16 just happened to be walking by and got caught in the field. Imprisoned, you might venture. Oh, how I am warming up to your title, "Electric Hazard!" The whole prospect of a "lure," yes. Kafka in color?  Why do I invariably think of Kafka in black and white? (Funny, that I mistyped "black and what.") Can we even entertain the idea of filming Die Verwandlung in anything but black and white? Thank you, Klaus, for giving me my next challenge: to capture the visual metaphor of metamorphosis exiting Kafkaland. Will this get my ticket punched by Nurse Ratched? Just admire your narrative construction of red color associations: trouble, hazard, paranoia--the hint of a Tarkovsky field from Stalker.

You want to open the file on how I keep track of surfaces? Thanks for hitting the buzzer that opens the room on Wunderkammern, a carnival of intrigue, and your counter-clockwise view of Melody and the prospect of 3-D. Am I getting dizzy? Certainly, my Optik Divide piece has a 3-D element to it, and I even viewed it with a Zeiss Aerotopograph, though it's not 3-D. This is something I want to explore with color fields. I am going to sneak not taking any meds Nurse Ratched prescribes and see what comes of it in 3-D color fields.

Thank you so much for sharing your narrative perspectives. I am particularly gratified the color fields of essentially nothingness prompt a speculative interpretation of somethingness.

IIIf, Summicron 5cm 1:2 collapsible, Kodak Ultramax 400.

Among its many other virtues, one is constantly amazed at its capacity for fit, well, into virtually any environment. :)

Great photograph. Is she attempting to shoo the bug away?

For the first time since January I took my Hasselblad 500C / Planar 80mm (with yellow/green filter) out for some fresh air this morning. Loaded a roll of Fomapan 100 and then went to two local but quite different locations.  Developed in Rodinal 1:50.

So good. Is there anything better than B&W medium format film in square format as rendered by a Zeiss lens?

Thank you Rog for your inspiring answer.  I wonder if people, who did not experience the evolution of photography  from b/w to color also think of past things and passed people in b/w.  Learned neuro-psychological phenomenon or hard-wired ?  I don't know-but color seems to be the paradigm of "now" and b/w of "then". I remember the  shock of seeing  the first WW1 color-pictures..blue skies over gray coats, rosy cheeks  and brown trenches. .  And yes, Kafka for me is black and white too.. And the "Schloss" of course in a bold b/w expressionistic architecture; no blue skies here either....

Here another picture taken with the Kodak ProImage 100. This shows one of the machine gun emplacements at the bunker complex of Cite d'Alet, overlooking Saint Malo. Marks left by Allied shells that hit the structure testify to the heavy fighting taking place there in WW2. (For those interested, the photographer Lee Miller photographed and wrote about this at the time; as described in the book "Lee Miller's War".) To me the film did an excellent job at capturing the structure and colour of the metal. Also, grain is not an issue here.

A view from the Pier back to Saint Malo with the ProImage 100. The blues of the sky shine through, though here too much grain is visible for my taste.

The ProImage 100 renders reds quite well, though I have not really pictures that I can show that show graduations or other subtleties.

Oh yeah. That was a print shop. "Rügen Book Printing House".  And I learned how to print. That's especially sad.

Thanks for the ProImage series. It seems a very capable emulsion. This shot below is truly great imho.

After having seen several examples of pictures taken with the - new to me - Kodak ProImage 100 colour negative film, I recently purchased a box of 5 and used them on a long weekend trip down at the seaside in Saint Malo. I thought I show you the result as the film is clearly less costly than Portra or Ektar. Overall it is a very capable film. Using Lightroom it is easily adjustable and it reproduces colour almost as nicely as Portra does, perhaps not quite as nicely balanced. At times it seems to show more grain than Portra, but overall I like it a lot. The "vacation picture" I posted above shows the colours at sunset. Here I think Portra would have given a more balanced view, whereas ProImage tends to go to the poster-approach; but then that may also have to do with my pp.

The picture below shows a view out on the beach in the morning hours. The soft colours of the morning are well captured, and the image also captures some of the details hidden in the shadows of the room.

These EI100 Portra colours are fantastic, Klaus, and fit these scenes perfectly.

Very nice Keith. The Planar 80 is really an excellent lens, so versatile and capable. I don't think mine has ever let me down actually.
