Rotterdam was just a heap of rubble then, being the first major city to be bombed into a firestorm by the Germans. Nowadays it is the world second largest port in tonnage, with Shanghai being first. To take first rank again they are extending it by 2000 Hectares of newly constructed land to be the world's largest again by 2025.
