Sakana Posted May 29, 2013 Share #1 Posted May 29, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am looking for a small camera which I can take always with me (beside my M 8 which is sometimes simply to inconvenient to carry). As my budget is limited I came across the D-Lux 4 and wanted to ask if its still advisable to go for this camera and how it performs in contrast to the D-Lux 5 and 6. Thanks very much for your help
Advertisement Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 Hi Sakana, Take a look here D-Lux 4 still worth buying ?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
earleygallery Posted May 29, 2013 Share #2 Posted May 29, 2013 The D-lux 4 was considered decent enough when it was released and the results won't be any worse now. That said, if you are on a limited budget you can probably find a better s/h buy for your money - the Panasonic versions of the Leica cameras sell for substantially less on the used market so you can probably buy one of the later Panasonic models for the same money.

Thanks very much for your help If you are looking for budget priced Leica compacts it's possible to buy the following as EX DEMO models in UK from a Premier UK Leica dealership : V Lux 20 £159, V Lux 30 £229 and V Lux 2 £199 ... the V Lux 2 is the only model which produces RAW files. Lots of good reviews of these models are available via Google. dunk Edited May 31, 2013 by dkpeterborough
sblitz Posted June 1, 2013 Share #4 Posted June 1, 2013 Other choices aside, I have the dlux4 along with an m9 m4 and m6. And I can say without question it is still vey much worth having. Made some large prints from the camera and they came out great. Are there better cheaper alternatives out there? I will let other give there opinions.but for that camera the answer is yes. ho_co Posted June 2, 2013 Share #5 Posted June 2, 2013 I agree with Steve. D-Lux 4 is a very capable little box.
Lee Martin Posted June 4, 2013 Share #6 Posted June 4, 2013 I've got one and been really pleased with it, the only thing I'd mention is the short zoom, maybe a used 5 or Panasonic equivalent would be better .
