Advertisement Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Hi iforum, Take a look here what lens?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted May 27, 2013 Share #2 Posted May 27, 2013 For all we know the mini may have the S sensor:rolleyes:. There is absolutely nothing known yet so that question is unanswerable. If it has a fixed lens it is moot anyway.

Jeff S Posted May 28, 2013 Share #4 Posted May 28, 2013 Two weeks is a long way off. The predictions on this thread should total about 7500 by then. Of course the camera may not be available until next year. By then you can decide if you'd rather have the new Monochrom mini (Mm). Jeff
iforum Posted May 28, 2013 Author Share #5 Posted May 28, 2013 (edited) Funny how you guys give serious thought to a a totally speculative thread like mini m and a thread in the same vein but an emphasis on the lens gets denigrated. Yes I take your point Jaap but a mini m in light of the m rangefinder series implies a camera that may fit a bill between the P&S and the m9, a bit like the old CL see link in respects to size etc Leica CL & Leica M6 TTL | Flickr - Photo Sharing! yes they are film comparisons but the same could work digitally Edited May 28, 2013 by jaapv personal attack removed
Ecar Posted May 28, 2013 Share #6 Posted May 28, 2013 If it is indeed an M-mount cropped sensor (I asked my crystal ball, but it went silent), then the answer to your question would be a function of (a) one's preferred full-frame focal length and ( the sensor crop factor. How many possible combinations is that?

Ahem, you asked a specific question about a camera that we know nothing about as yet, whether it's a fixed lens or what. Bizarre. lct Posted May 28, 2013 Share #9 Posted May 28, 2013 For an APS-C body, a 28 (equiv. 35) or a 35 (equiv. 50) would be perfect. Elmarit 28/2.8 aph, Summicron 35/2 asph, Summicron 35/2 v4 or Summarit 35/2.5 would be my favorites but it is a matter of tastes obviously. I like much the Summicron 40/2 on my Epson R-D1 as well. Another APS-C camera. Excellent format for those who don't need fast wides IMO.
Jeff S Posted May 28, 2013 Share #10 Posted May 28, 2013 Funny how you guys give serious thought to a a totally speculative thread like mini m and a thread in the same vein but an emphasis on the lens gets denigrated. You asked for a recommendation for the best lens for that speculative body. Best lens questions are difficult enough to answer -- what's best for you depends on many variables dictated by your needs and preferences -- let alone for a phantom camera. iforum Posted May 28, 2013 Author Share #11 Posted May 28, 2013 (edited) Thanks the 40(aka60) sounds interesting , what is it like wide open, soft, low contrast? I have a elmar 50mm 2.8 and a summaron 35mm on my RD1 but prefer the Jupiter 3 50mm and the Voigtlander 35mm 2.5 I do like low contrast as I can always beef up contrast in pp work as long as there is detail to play with ps the way that the mini if heading though the leak looks iffy I will still be using the Epson which is my preference over the m8 which I sold Edited May 28, 2013 by iforum
