MarkP Posted May 26, 2013 Share #1 Posted May 26, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have an f=5cm 1:2 Summitar No 553373. It's only problem (which I suspect is the big problem) is that the back of the rear element has a fair amount of central patchy fogging and cleaning marks. Is there anything that can be done to correct this?
Advertisement Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 Hi MarkP, Take a look here Summitar fogged element advice. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
luigi bertolotti Posted May 26, 2013 Share #2 Posted May 26, 2013 Summitar belongs to a breed of lenses that can be disassembled for maintenance also by 3rd party labs (and experienced hobbists, too...); some labs (not many) can also perform glass cleaning/repolishing.... but on a Summitar, which isnt' a rare item, is dubios if it's worth the cost; you could contact Van Manen at Kamera Service (Holland), very kind people to deal with ; in this section ("Repair specialits" sticky thread) there is also a link to an Australian repair shop, which, apparantly takes care of lenses too. Thanks Luigi, I'll follow up the Australian repair shop first. I agree that the lens probably isn't worth a trip to Europe. Regards, Mark
