MLG Posted May 22, 2013 Share #1 Posted May 22, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, I would be interested in forum experts' opinion about which software provides the best results in terms of image quality for being used with Leica M8 and Leica lenses. I haven't yet decided which to buy. Personally I prefer Apple's software, as I find their interface design handy for me. However, good software interface doesn't rule image quality to me in the end... and thus I'm wondering whether Capture One 7 Express really provides me better images. I tried their trial version and found the results I could get out amazing. However, I didn't like the interface much as it differs in quite some aspects from Apple's philosophy. So I'm wondering what the experts here recommend (timestamp May 2013). What is the state-of-the-art raw-concerter if I use a Leica M and Leica lenses? I did a lot of research, but wasn't able to find out much of useful benchmark comparisons which focus specially on Leica M. Thanks for your opinions. Advertisement Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Hi MLG, Take a look here Image Quality: Capture One 7 Express vs. Apple Aperture 3. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
otto.f Posted May 22, 2013 Share #2 Posted May 22, 2013 Strange that you did not find anything about this because this has been discussed extensively in this forum. At the time of the M8 the conclusion of this discussion was more or less: Aperture for workflow, CaptureOne for image quality. At the moment Aperture has become less and less popular among Leica users because it does not follow Leica's development, for instance with the Monochrom, whereas Lightroom has become the main stream. Personally I stick to CaptureOne for its image quality, although it sometimes is irritant because the work will not flow.
