Version III is optically the same as II in a different body. They are all a bit different. Version I has fairly uniform sharpness (except for the edges) and somewhat lower contrast than the others, II has better central contrast, but falls off in the corners, IV is has a split personality - wider than 2.8 it has some zonal blurring (some like this), at f8 it is as good as the ASPH. The ASPH is a nearly perfect lens, and kinda boring. I'd buy a 35mm Summaron 2.8 instead. Cheaper and smoother OOF. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
