Advertisement Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Hi ECohen, Take a look here D-Lux 6 screen protector....or not. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Thomv Posted May 17, 2013 Share #2 Posted May 17, 2013 Since a via Ebay acquired screen protector damaged the coating of my beloved M8 I do not trust 'protectors' anymore. My D-Lux 6 is without protector. I did spend some money on more useful accessories: a grip, an EVF and an automatic lenscap. And Luigi is currently designing a nice leather strap instead of the horrible plastic one that came with the camera :-)
Karl G Posted May 17, 2013 Share #3 Posted May 17, 2013 My D-Lux 6 and previous 5 did not have screen protectors but it really depends on your personal habits and use. I use my 6 as a motorcycle or flying jacket pocket cam and the inside of the pockets are softly lined and I treat it as an expensive little camera. It usually lives in a case in between grab and go. If I were to use a screen protector it would be a Giotto. For a camera to take white watering , beach, etc. I use a Nikon AW 100. It's been dropped, it's been dunked. Compared to the D-Lux, it's a snapshot only camera with no raw, AP mode etc.
bjmike Posted May 18, 2013 Share #4 Posted May 18, 2013 I use a glass protector on the screen of my DL6. There's adhesive only around the edges. I think to not use one, especially if the camera is carried in a pocket, a non-camera pack, or any other general purpose carrier just adds to the risk of damaging a rather expensive little camera. I see no downside at all. I don't use those plastic adhesive things (like on my iPhone) on my cameras, tho.
Thomv Posted May 20, 2013 Share #5 Posted May 20, 2013 Screen protectors bring very, very little, since the screen is to be used to check the view angle of the lens the main composition and the histogram only. If you think that you can judge anything else on this tiny screen, you may find some unpleasant surprises later on when editing in post.

OP, go for a protector if micro scratches bother you, otherwise the screen is pretty resilient and should hold up on you.
