Guest badbob Posted August 24, 2013 Share #61  Posted August 24, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I see a panel of three judges agitatedly debating in the court room whether to sentence the suspect to theft, burglarization or burglary ...  If the guy only gets £6k in a Leica store, they should consider it an accident without intent. Maybe the thief thought he was in a Salvation Army thrift store.
Advertisement Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Hi Guest badbob, Take a look here Another theft from a dealer to report. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
lanetomlane Posted August 24, 2013 Share #62 Â Posted August 24, 2013 Among other things I'm an electrical engineer. I only ever say AC or DC. Never really heard anyone in the industry ever say AC current... But electrical engineering is full of dodgy things. Like for example most of the time AC/DC is conceptually referring to voltage not current! Then there's the whole screw-up about "current" flowing from positive to negative, not to mention "imaginary" that can be measured. The list goes on! Â Surely it's AC or DC voltage, with current being expressed in amps. _______________ Regards, Tom
marknorton Posted August 24, 2013 Share #63  Posted August 24, 2013 This guy hit a Leica store and got only £6000 of gear? I think they should give him the stuff in exchange for an agreement to work with Leica and the authorities to publicize the whole caper - they'd make it back 50 times over.  Idiot number 1. Maybe the thief thought he was in a Salvation Army thrift store.  Idiot number 1, again.  Red Dot Cameras are my preferred dealer and Ivor, Elaine and Brian provide an outstanding service. While people here are working out how to obtain an M Typ 240 and an APO 50, I've had them both for months.  I do not know the circumstances of this theft but am pleased someone who may be responsible has been arrested. andybarton Posted August 24, 2013 Author Share #66 Â Posted August 24, 2013 It was a casual theft of the camera and lens. Shoplifting. It was on the CCTV at RedDot's site.

Your judgement speaks volumes about you, given that you don't have a clue who you're talking about, not to mention a dead, soulless lack of a sense of humor. Your Old Dog Posted August 26, 2013 Share #69  Posted August 26, 2013 I'm not taking a pop at you, LeicaPassion, because I've heard it elsewhere but the word "burgled" is sufficient and shorter than the torturous, bolted-together word "burglarized" so how has it managed to enter common usage?  What's next: the "burglarization" at the house next door occurred in the early hours? The poor language has to put up with a lot of abuse.  Pete.  Burglarized is a popular word here in the US with news organizations. We don't speak the kings English here, actually, in a few more years we may not speak any English! Your Old Dog Posted August 26, 2013 Share #70  Posted August 26, 2013 "Vandalised" but this is a different case. "Burgled" is the past participle of the infinitive "to burgle" but there is no parallel infinitive 'to vandal' so "vandled" does not exist. Its the same with notarised, pulverised, chastised, baptised, criticised etc. Pete.  I thought it was only a problem if you dangled it?

Shade Posted August 28, 2013 Share #73 Â Posted August 28, 2013 This doesn't sound very good. With the worldwide acknowledgement of Leica cameras, more thieves and burglars are aware of this camera/lenses, I honestly feel less secure if I'm traveling abroad with my M.
