Advertisement Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 Hi Gerard, Take a look here MS Optical 50s. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Ecar Posted May 16, 2013 Share #2 Â Posted May 16, 2013 Yes. I have the Sonnetar. There were a few threads in the forum about this lens and how it compares to other fast 50s. Use the forum's search function and you should find them.
Gerard Posted May 17, 2013 Author Share #3 Â Posted May 17, 2013 From what I've now seen of the Sonnetar; the harsh bokeh is not for me. That said; does the coma ring adjustment make much difference? Â Couldn't find anything on the Mode-s.
Ecar Posted May 17, 2013 Share #4  Posted May 17, 2013 From what I've now seen of the Sonnetar; the harsh bokeh is not for me. That said; does the coma ring adjustment make much difference? Couldn't find anything on the Mode-s.  Understand. No, the coma adjustment doesn't change the nature of the bokeh fundamentally. I like the lens mostly for the small size and the fun/challenge of using it. The bokeh is what it is, not unlike some fast lenses of old. I like the results better when converting to b&w.  Can't be of any help regarding the 50/1.3, I'm afraid. IIRC, it was a Sonnar design produced (a decade ago?) in very small numbers for both Leica M and Nikon RF mounts.
