CaptZoom Posted May 14, 2013 Share #1 Posted May 14, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) It's time to upgrade my mouse to be used for Photoshop on a Mac running Lion. My total budget is $100, and I do not want a wireless mouse. I'm thinking about getting a gaming mouse; in addition to being precise, they allow for changing the resolution on the fly, the weight if the mouse can be adjusted, and they're ergonomics tend to be better. Please recommend some mice that you find useful for photo editing.

jaapv Posted May 14, 2013 Share #2 Posted May 14, 2013 I don't even use a mouse any more since getting an Apple trackpad for most applications.. For post processing I use a Bamboo tablet.
CaptZoom Posted May 14, 2013 Author Share #3 Posted May 14, 2013 I have Apple's Magic Pad. It's not sufficient for my PS and Ai needs. When my work requirements can justify the extra expenditure of a tablet, I'll purchase one (which will probably be one from the Cintiq line). I've been using the Apple Magic Mouse, but unfortunately it was destroyed this weekend.
jaapv Posted May 14, 2013 Share #4 Posted May 14, 2013 I have less fortunate experiences with the Magic Mouse, mainly losing contact all the time, but I have the standard Apple Mouse (wired) for my wife who dislikes the trackpad, and that one is fine, just a good simple solid mouse. roydonian Posted May 14, 2013 Share #5 Posted May 14, 2013 I use a Logitech gaming mouse. This connects to the computer via a USB cable, and comes with a set of weights that you can add until you get the ‘feel’ that you want. Best regards, Doug
sandymc Posted May 14, 2013 Share #6 Posted May 14, 2013 Logitech G400 is considered about the best basic gaming mouse available. It's the latest revision of the legendary (yes, really ) MX518. G500 if you want a serious gaming mouse with adjustable weights, etc. Sandy

Guest tanks Posted May 15, 2013 Share #9 Posted May 15, 2013 I like Razer mice, and prefer them to Logitech. Razer Gaming Mice: Ergonomic Mice, Ambidextrous Mice & More - Razer United States I have the Mamba for my desk, and Orochi when I travel. Both can work wired or wirelessly. They work well with the Macs. I do use Intuos5 for PS though.
sandymc Posted May 15, 2013 Share #10 Posted May 15, 2013 Does this mouse work on a Mac? Yes, I use a G400 on my Mac. Probably not all of the functionality that you'd get on Windows with a Logitech driver installed works, but the on-the-fly resolution switching works, the wheel works, etc. Depending on your preferences for mouse acceleration curve you might want to use something like USB Overdrive. CaptZoom Posted May 16, 2013 Author Share #11 Posted May 16, 2013 Thanks for the input, guys. I just pulled the trigger on a Razer Deathadder 2013 edition along with a matched pad (Razer Goliathus) optimized for control. I should get it tomorrow. I'll report back after editing around hundred images, which should be a next day or two.
