Hi

I have been trying to get a green heliopan or B&W filter for my 35mm and 50mm summilux's but nobody has them in stock and are unlikely to get them either so I have been recommended to get a step up ring and the next available filter at 48mm. This is great but I do lose the use of the hoods, any ideas how to fix this? has anybody tried the LEE RF-75 Filter Holder?

I don't think B+W currently make green filters in any size – just seems to be yellow, orange and red. Heliopan do seem to still offer a green filter although, as you have found, the 46mm seems to be out-of-stock everywhere (B&H list it as discontinued). Have you tried eBay? Alternatively, Hoya have a multi-coated green filter in 46mm. Might not be up to B+W or Heliopan standards but is probably as good as (certainly more convenient than) using a green Lee filter?

I think Leica missed a trick with the coloured filters. IMO they should have included a basic set of filters (in a choice of E46 or E39) as part of the Monochrom package. At the very least, they should offer a set of coloured filters in their accessories range. More useful than the range of coloured straps and cases.

Don't know your country, but I do know of Heliopan greens if you PM me.

Thanks for everyone's comments, I have decided to go for the Lee rf-75 system, everyone who has bought it has loved it but then again if you spend that much money on a filter system you better love it ;-) and it was built for the Leica RF's and hasselblad xpan. The reason I chose it over individual filter is because green filters are the beginning. I also want a 10 stop Nd filter, a polariser, new lenses and the Lee system is the best although not cheapest that ticks all the boxes. I hope this is as good as every one says otherwise you might see it on eBay soon

Lou, have you shot your MM with an XO or X1 filter? Maybe even on the 50 APO? Just wondering about skin tones (not to be confused with M240 skin tone whumpus ;)) Ii did notice that B&H has many Y and O options, but X seems passe.

I got my 46mm B+W green filter off ebay. You can find them if you are patient. I tried Schneider direct and they offered to make one from some old stock but it was expensive. You wonder with the MM out there and folks wanting a green filter why B+W (Schneider) did not make a production run on them.
