lawman Posted May 3, 2013 Share #1 Posted May 3, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) The aperature ring on my 50 summicron (1979 Canada manufacture) became very stiff and now moves easily but does not open or close the lens diaphragm blades at all. If I shake the lens I hear a small rattle -- is this something that I can fix or does it need a trip to Leica? Thanks for any input.

earleygallery Posted May 3, 2013 Share #4 Posted May 3, 2013 Hit it hard with a hammer several times. If that doesn't work send it back to Leica.
lawman Posted May 4, 2013 Author Share #5 Posted May 4, 2013 Thanks James - I did what you said with a hammer - should I send the small bits of glass back to Leica with the lens??
farnz Posted May 4, 2013 Share #6 Posted May 4, 2013 Hit it hard with a hammer several times. If that doesn't work send it back to Leica. Does Leica make a calibrated hammer for this or can a third party hammer be used? If third party, what type of hammer - ball-pean, club, sledge, or MC*? Pete. * Not easy to find since the 80's.
