ASA9 Posted April 24, 2013 Share #1 Posted April 24, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm close to a deal on S2, but where can I check - based on serial # - if 1) It's stolen. 2) Which month / year of production. 3) Any repair. Look forward to receive some feedback. Regards René Roemer
Advertisement Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Hi ASA9, Take a look here Serial # check!. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
GMB Posted April 25, 2013 Share #2 Posted April 25, 2013 I guess you have to ask Leica directly, although they will only be give you an answer on 1) if the stolen item has been reported and on 3) only if the repair was done by Leica. Also, I would be more interested when the camera was first sold, not when it was produced. As regards repairs, mine has been to Leica twice: replace the leather and replace the sensor. At both times, camera was cleaned, checked etc. I think both repairs have enhanced the value.
jlehrer Posted April 25, 2013 Share #3 Posted April 25, 2013 You will definitely want to contact your local Leica distributor, they can look up the camera based on its serial number and determine age, service history, etc. Generally, if a camera's serial number begins in 3800xxx it is an older camera, but if it begins in 3900xxx it is newer.
