jdlaing Posted April 23, 2013 Share #1 Posted April 23, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Was my first thought. I happened into my "local" dealer today, and in the used case, they had a 135 Tele Elmar in top condition with a $300.00 price on it. I have absolutely no willpower.................. Advertisement Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 Hi jdlaing, Take a look here "What's wrong with it.". I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
UliWer Posted April 23, 2013 Share #2 Posted April 23, 2013 Perhaps there is really something wrong - who can tell? 135mm lenses have become unpopular. Everybody wants wide. And Leica customers prefer things with a high price tag . So may be the dealer has this item for a long time and didn't find a customer yet. He cant't change the focal length, but he could change the price: Tell him to demand 1300,- and I am rather sure he will be more successful.

I suppose the only thing to do if you are really interested is to ask him to let you try it out for yourself and then you can find out Best wishes

gyoung Posted April 24, 2013 Share #7 Posted April 24, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I went into. UK dealer about 8 years ago looking for a used Summicron 50 of current type, expecting to pay £500 or so, walked out with a last pre asph Summilux 50 instead, mint, box etc £450, and on approval too. Presumably they had it for a while, or needed some cash to pay a bill, I didn't ask. It's lovely too! Gerry

Ecar Posted April 24, 2013 Share #10 Posted April 24, 2013 You did well - sudden GAS attacks can get a lot more expensive than that. The other good piece of news is that you have an honest (or maybe just cash-strapped...) dealer.

I should start a twelve step program for Leica Buyaholics. You could have a coach to help you thru the rough spots.

smb Posted April 25, 2013 Share #15 Posted April 25, 2013 That is an exceptionally good price. That lens is listing for around $600. There is very little difference between the older model and the new version which sell for many times more.
