Advertisement Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 Hi Angel, Take a look here Elmar 50 2.8 collapsible. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
k_g_wolf ✝ Posted April 22, 2013 Share #2 Posted April 22, 2013 Yes, but do NOT collaps it! In normal shooting position with the extracted lensbarrel there should be no problem. Best GEORG
jaapv Posted April 23, 2013 Share #3 Posted April 23, 2013 At the time Leica advised using a piece of Dymo tape to make it impossible to push it in all the way.
luigi bertolotti Posted April 23, 2013 Share #4 Posted April 23, 2013 Probably the LAST collapsible Elmar (Elmar-M) can be used with no issue.... but I am not 100% sure... don't remember to have read of it in relation with CL (is fully rectractable on all the new Ms... but they haven't the famed "meter's arm" of the CL/M5)
jaapv Posted April 23, 2013 Share #5 Posted April 23, 2013 I don't think so, Luigi, it extends backwards by approximately the same amount as the old one.
lct Posted April 23, 2013 Share #6 Posted April 23, 2013 At the time Leica advised using a piece of Dymo tape to make it impossible to push it in all the way. Exactly. See leaflet 120-50 below. 120-50_list_en.pdf
250swb Posted April 23, 2013 Share #7 Posted April 23, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) It isn't the metering arm that gets in the way of collapsing an Elmar lens, it is a bracket above the shutter that stops it fully collapsing. From my measurements and testing if it wasn't for that bracket an Elmar M might just touch the metering arm. What it means in practice is that the lens can't touch the metering arm because of that bracket, so the lens (Elmar M) can be collapsed, it's just that the rear barrel will touch the bracket and possibly scratch it or the flange on the end of the barrel. I think Dyno tape is much wider than necessary as a spacer, but finding the correct width to make the lens as compact as possible won't really damage anything inside if you are careful.
