Last week i was asking about a 50 that would not break the bank and have decided to wait for the Voigtlander 50 F1.5, but in the mean time i have bought an adapter to try out my Jupiter 8 off my Zorki and i'm pleasntly surprised.

out of date FP4 @ ISO200 shot at F2,

Nikon shooters talking Nikon

Seems like you have a decent copy. Hold on to it.

The J-8 and J-3 are often scorned due to their random (at best) build quality and output. This is not helped by the fact that they almost always require adjustment ("shimming") to properly focus on an M-mount camera.

However, if you like the Sonnar rendering and since these lenses can be had for a low price, a good copy is worth the money spent for buying the adapter and having it adjusted IMO.

Hello gsgary,

Nice photo. Nice lens.

It would be nice to see what this lens can do at various apertures with in date film exposed at & processed for the rated ISO.

Best Regards,

Michael

I think the shot above was only at 1/30 because of the light, i used it again today to shoot a roll of Kodachrome that i'm going to develope in Rodinal one night this week

I have a Jupiter 8 50mm F2 that a friend gave me......and the photos aren't bad....but MAN do i hate using that lens.....it doesn't feel satisfying at all to use with its odd size, weird handling, and terrible build...

but then again, i get what i paid for! (free). lol.

I know where your coming from the aperture is so easy to knock and alter from what it has been set to,i only have VC lenses but you get a nice comforting click into place on your aperture ring
