50 Summicron R repair question

Hi, I recently found my grandfather's Leica equipment, and among it was a 50 Summicron-R, although somebody got to it first and put a Nikon mount on its base. I want to restore it so that I can use it on my M. Does anyone know the part I need and where I can buy it? Thanks very much.

Amongst his equipment might well be the part you need. As it is, in its adapted state, it probably has a Leitax adaptor semi-permanently on it and your grandfather might well have put that on himself (it is a DIY job) in which case he would have kept the original Leica parts, as have I.

 

If you can't find it, email the people at leitax.com to see if they can help. Or you could sell it in its adapted state: I use a 50 Cron on a Nikon D800E and it is superb. Or last resort maybe Leica can help, but they might not be keen to do so.

Or, just get a Nikon to M adapter...(Novoflex LEM/NIK NT)

The Summicron-R was made for Leica SLRs and never fitted the M, so restoring it to its original state wouldn't get you very far. What Jaap suggests is the simplest way to attach it to a M.
