stuny Posted April 18, 2013 Share #3 Posted April 18, 2013 (edited) Karl - Very nice. I think the series was called Whirlybirds. The MoMA one is over the mezanine and in green. You can see three shots of it on this page of our site: http://www.barbara-and-stu.com/plogger/index.php?level=album&id=130 Edited May 17, 2013 by stuny
Karl G Posted April 18, 2013 Author Share #4 Posted April 18, 2013 Paul and Stuart, thank you both. Stuart you are right about the show, by Desilu Studios. Beautiful shots of the MOMA in your collection. As you may have gathered, I love to see older aircraft still flying and earning their keep. I can appreciate when they are retired to museums having earned an honorable retirement. Seeing them mangled as art pieces is a bit like seeing an old Leica Or Hassie film camera mangled to create an art piece. I can't help wistfully wishing someone will rescue them from their fate and put them right and in use.
Orient XI Posted April 21, 2013 Share #5 Posted April 21, 2013 You should try to visit the Shuttleworth collection near Bedford, England on one of their flying days when many aircraft of nearly 100 years ago are flown. This was the home airfield used in the film Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines.

Karl G Posted April 24, 2013 Author Share #11 Posted April 24, 2013 Thank you Bill. I was/am a fixed wing guy and my one hour of dual in a 47 was a very humbling experience. It made me hesitate to walk and chew gum for fear my coordination may not be up to the task.
