stuny Posted April 19, 2013 Author Share #6 Posted April 19, 2013 Paul, Karl & Mark - thank you. Jeffry - Thank you. I always confuse the two (dogwood and magnolia). Any suggestions on avoiding the confusion?
Jeffry Abt Posted April 22, 2013 Share #7 Posted April 22, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Stu Sorry about being slow about answering your request. It is easier to distinguish first the dogwood because the magnolias are quite variable. So once you can identify the dogwood, things fall into place. The center of the dogwood bloom is quite compact, low and mound-like. and the bloom will have only four petals or bracts.(Pardon this nikon image of a dogwood) If you would like, follow this link- The flowering dogwood has no peer when it comes to beauty and elegance | Through the Mind's Eye Welcome, dear visitor! IkarusJohn Posted April 22, 2013 Share #11 Posted April 22, 2013 Magnolia vulcan, I would think from its colour. Love the contrast of the carved stone behind the lovely fresh, but temporary blossoms.
