Hi Loren

Have a look at this - you should find something to suit you here:

i browsed the website but couldn't find any keyword like vintage or classic out there. Try posting any other link regarding vintage cameras. I am checking myself.

Hi Loren

The word 'vintage' isn't used a lot in Leica circles, so searching under that is unlikely to help. If you look at that link again, a lot of the cameras are pre-war. Generally, the earlier they appear in the list, the older they will be. When you get to somewhere around '111b Luftwaffe Eigentium', you've got to just before the Second World War.

If you see one you like, put the number into the site referred to in J C Braconi's link, here: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-collectors-historica/80354-looking-camera-lens-year-issue.html

That will give you the date of the camera body (boitier) or lens (objectif) that you are interested in.

Hi Loren

Generally the Second World War in Europe is held to have taken place between 1939 and 1945 (though some variation in dates is possible, depending on the history of the jurisdiction in which you live, for instance the war with Japan finished in 1946), so if you really want a camera from the 1950's, that's normally regarded as well into the Post-War era.

Try these:

Welcome newcomers

To simplify your search for "vintage" (a term rarely used in reference to Leicas, which are cameras for use), I would look for Model III cameras. Of the "vintage" Leicas, they are easiest to use. Don't forget the trick needed to load them, which consists of trimming the width of the film leader. There are lots of instructions on how to do it here. Good luck

Loren's mentioned he actually wants a 111g - there are three of them in the link I've posted previously ;)

two cents: you will overpay for a IIIg. It is superb, and there is no criticism of the camera. I would get a IIIf and get almost the same utility (noting the 90mm frame's absence) for less money.
