pauledell Posted April 14, 2013 Share #2 Posted April 14, 2013 Wonderful picture with the composition, great tones, detail, sharpness and the mood. The feeling of the wind is certainly felt in this shot, Paul

e1k3 Posted April 15, 2013 Author Share #4 Posted April 15, 2013 ... The feeling of the wind is certainly felt in this shot, Paul Thank you for your comment, Paul. This was my intention: Express the feeling of strong wind with a picture. Glad to read it worked.
e1k3 Posted April 15, 2013 Author Share #5 Posted April 15, 2013 ... but a bad environment for cameras! Oooh, not really. A Leica M (M8 in case of this picture) is a quite robust tool.

I love that picture very much, but I think the black frame is too limiting the view. Regards, Marcus

I just do not understand the "too limiting the view". Do you recommend a white frame instead of black?
mhanke Posted April 17, 2013 Share #8 Posted April 17, 2013 Yes, I do. The sand ripples and dust streams driven by the wind are leading the eye upwards, towards the bright horizon. Instead of permitting the eye to continue this path into the distance, you confront it with a black barrier. I was fan of black frames myself, but have realized in the meanwhile, that a plain white frame is much better in nearly all cases. It frames the composition, without being obstrusive or visually "encaging" the picture. Marcus
