Rick Posted April 7, 2013 Share #1 Posted April 7, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Looks like Sylvester Stallone's brother is hawking the camera Mr. Stallone used in the movie Expendables 2... and people are bidding on it. Bidding is at $6,100. Not bad considering it comes with a 35 cron and it is new.
Advertisement Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Hi Rick, Take a look here Stallone's M9 from "Expendables 2". I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
tappan Posted April 7, 2013 Share #2 Posted April 7, 2013 (edited) RickLeica, Maybe he thinks that the lens comes with the camera and he'd settle for under $7,000.00 US :-) Mark Edited April 7, 2013 by tappan spelling

The lens comes off... why would you want to do that? (Actually, it is listed with the lens. I think they know.)

MarkP Posted April 7, 2013 Share #6 Posted April 7, 2013 Summarit. What happens with the M9 in the movie? Does he hit people with it? He takes a few photos from the cockpit window of a plane and turns to show it for product placement.

Ah, right. Sounds like the latest Stallone instalment is Missable LVI, or should that be Unwatchable 56 or Forgettable LVI
satijntje Posted April 7, 2013 Share #8 Posted April 7, 2013 It is the Brother from Sylvester Stallone, Frank Stallone who sells it. He even sold shoes from his brother....... Next week he might sell his underwear or his socks:D This stinks........ John
kdriceman Posted April 7, 2013 Share #9 Posted April 7, 2013 I wonder how this all happened. I assumed Leica paid for a product placement, but wouldn't they just have loaned the camera to the producer? Perhaps not... They must have just contributed it. Probably thinking Sylvester Stallone would keep it and carry it around like Brad Pitt and Seal do and they would get continued celebrity good will. Now the brother has it and is looking to make $$ on it and it ends up as a high profile eB&@y item. What an odd outcome. But then again, a lot of what Stallone does is odd. Sort of funny actually. Paul J Posted April 8, 2013 Share #10 Posted April 8, 2013 You can just imagine Stallone trying to pronounce Leica can't you?
Rick Posted April 8, 2013 Author Share #11 Posted April 8, 2013 On the other hand, I could see Sylvester tossing the camera to Frank and saying, "Here, I got this from Leica to use on my last movie. Why don't you see what you can get for it." Maybe, Sylvester is just being nice to his bro. Not all brothers have to be Remus and Ramus.

rramesh Posted April 8, 2013 Share #13 Posted April 8, 2013 Now if it were to sell for more that a new M, will it make the latter expendable? ;-)

Many people (re: especially "Hollywood people") don't want to support their siblings so overtly as to give them a check every month. When you get things for free (either directly from the company or as a result of a budget) that you don't want or need, its an easy way to help those in your life that may not be as fortunate. As for the suggestion that Leica gave the camera to the studio, I doubt it. Movies with $100 million budgets typically don't have a problem paying $7k for a prop, especially if their star and writer (Stallone) says that's what he wants to use. But if they were trying to make money for their movie by way of a product placement, they would ask for a lot more than just a free camera.

algrove Posted April 8, 2013 Share #16 Posted April 8, 2013 (edited) The lens is a Summarit. They had a limited budget so opted for a Summarit. I love the shipping amount $5.78. Edited April 8, 2013 by algrove

Paul J Posted April 8, 2013 Share #19 Posted April 8, 2013 It sold for $7100. I think Stallone's autograph actually reduced the value of the camera.
