Hello to the lovers of the Noctilux f1 and the haters of it's lens hood. I do not like the original lens because:-

a) It is big

B) It is Ugly

c) It is plastic

d) You have to leave the front lens element exposed

e) Always a risk of the hood scratching the lens body

f) I bought a new lathe so I can make my own :)

For me this one is so much better in every way. The paint job on the hood could be better. The hood is screwed into the filter area.

That looks pretty awesome, I'm guessing it works well regarding vignetting?

Nice work. :)

Used with an M (Liveview, EVF) It won't be a problem, but for pure rangefinder use it will be interesting to see how much of the viewfinder it obscures as this is already a problem with lenses of this diameter.

Let us know how you get on.

Dear onaujee, thank you for your compliment. It takes about 8 - 10 hours to make one of those, if I ever find the time I will be delighted to make you one. I will be getting my new M 240 today and hope to find out whether this lens hood will cause vignetting, if not I will give you the dimensions and if you can find a good machinist he would be able to make you one easily.
