Saad Posted April 6, 2013 Share #1 Posted April 6, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello to the lovers of the Noctilux f1 and the haters of it's lens hood. I do not like the original lens because:- a) It is big It is Ugly c) It is plastic d) You have to leave the front lens element exposed e) Always a risk of the hood scratching the lens body f) I bought a new lathe so I can make my own For me this one is so much better in every way. The paint job on the hood could be better. The hood is screwed into the filter area. Saad Welcome, dear visitor! Saad Posted April 6, 2013 Author Share #3 Posted April 6, 2013 Thanks Steve, Unfortunately I don't know that yet I am waiting for the new M, if however, there is vignetting I will just have to make another one, it will take about 2 days.
steveclem Posted April 6, 2013 Share #4 Posted April 6, 2013 As it happens, the CV 50mm 1.1 screw in hood is a similar size so things bode well. Keep us updated, it looks an interesting project.
IWC Doppel Posted April 11, 2013 Share #5 Posted April 11, 2013 Aftermarket quality hoods is IMO a gap in the market for Leica followers If someone could make really nice versions of the 12504, 12466 etc that would be great. Nice job by the way
Bobitybob Posted April 11, 2013 Share #6 Posted April 11, 2013 Nice work. Used with an M (Liveview, EVF) It won't be a problem, but for pure rangefinder use it will be interesting to see how much of the viewfinder it obscures as this is already a problem with lenses of this diameter. Let us know how you get on.

onaujee Posted April 14, 2013 Share #10 Posted April 14, 2013 Any chance you can sell me one? I also have this lens but do not like using the original hood...Please let me know, thanks
Saad Posted April 15, 2013 Author Share #11 Posted April 15, 2013 Dear onaujee, thank you for your compliment. It takes about 8 - 10 hours to make one of those, if I ever find the time I will be delighted to make you one. I will be getting my new M 240 today and hope to find out whether this lens hood will cause vignetting, if not I will give you the dimensions and if you can find a good machinist he would be able to make you one easily.
