davidfung Posted April 1, 2013 Share #1 Posted April 1, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just wondering if anyone has tried any of the tele conversion filter attached lenses with their X1 or X2? I have used the Canon 250D on it, and found that to be pretty good. And wanted to extend the lens to get a tighter FOV. A brief background, I have used the X2, and found it to be a perfect camera for me, and only wished they had a lens that was a bit tighter, think 50-75mm in 35mm terms. And I have been looking at the various options available, including Raynox and the OEM from the likes of Sony, Panasonic, etc.. But am seeking real world experiences from others who have used it? I am primarily concerned with retention of colour balance and minimal loss of central image quality (say central 1/3 or 1/2 of frame). Thanks! aufderlauer Posted April 1, 2013 Share #2 Posted April 1, 2013 Hi David me too preferring a longer focal of 50mm+, have to accept, that there is no serious attachment to make longer the original 36mm! Only cropping can make the deal. Close-up lenses for better macro may be a solution, but nothing for longer reach. Only Leica could make this adaption - but they do not even support our X2 with firmware upgrade since 1.10 . Maybe their other camera projects don't allow them to investigate to make our X2 better. No real support from Adobe Lightroom or Phase One with camera profile. Without matched software today you cannot win. I like my X2 à la carte a lot. Hope we soon can see a development for better support. If you can find a nice focal doubler i would like to hear about that. Greetz, Daniel
davidfung Posted April 2, 2013 Author Share #3 Posted April 2, 2013 It is a shame. But it seems that all the efforts have gone to the development of the new M and the S2. But since now they have both been launched (successfully), they can have time to devote back to fixing up and further improving the X2. If they can only do what Sigma did with their DP series, and release 2 or 3 versions of the X series with different lenses, that would be heaven.... But a new firmware upgrade with improved Auto ISO (working with manual aperture and shutter) and customising of the rear dials would be good enough for me!
