xpr.108 Posted March 28, 2013 Share #1  Posted March 28, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have recently accquired a new to me 35 summi (serial 239x)  Based on what I have read  http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-wiki.en/index.php/35mm_f/2_Summicron_II Antique and Classic Cameras  This should be a version 2. This is my inscription LEITZ WETZLAR 2XXXXXX SUMMICRON 1:2/35  It also said "Made in Germany" on the barrel base.  I thought that all/most/some 35 summicron (non asph) were made in Canada?  What do you think? wizard Posted March 28, 2013 Share #2 Â Posted March 28, 2013 Well, the version 1 Summicron 35 was made both in Canada and Germany, and so was the version 4. I believe I have just recently seen a version 2 made in Wetzlar, too. Â Andy

TomB_tx Posted March 28, 2013 Share #4 Â Posted March 28, 2013 I bought a version 2 35mm Summicron in 1969 or 70, and it was made in Germany.

TomB_tx Posted March 29, 2013 Share #6 Â Posted March 29, 2013 Yes - the tab was used on this model, and is not as easy to find when the hood is in place. One valid criticism of this design.
xpr.108 Posted March 29, 2013 Author Share #7 Â Posted March 29, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) That's exactly what I have. I guess some were made in Canada and some weren't? Â Thanks!
