I had a chance to play with an M240 at Leica Miami this week and am just sitting down to compare with M9 images. I updated Lightroom to 4.4RC which supports the new M, but not sure which profile to use.

Do I use "embedded" or "adobe standard"?

Thanks.

Personal choice; try them both and see what you think. Things may evolve further by the time the final version is available. In any case, the profiles are meant as a starting point for your own interpretations.

Strongly recommend using Adobe Standard. I transforms the way the DNG converter interprets reds and skin tones + everything else. IMHO Embedded is to be avoided.

Thanks, Chris. I thought I had found a decent tweak recipe with Embedded but will follow your suggestion and do another try starting with Adobe Standard, although this may turn out to be useless once a FW correction and/or the final version of LR 4.4 are released.

I'm rather confused by LR4........

M9 files have embedded and Adobe Standard on camera calibration......

.... but the M240 lists only embedded.......

I can't find any setting anywhere else to bring this option up.....

On the M9 images Embedded and Adobe bring up different WB figures.... although the actual image in LR4 hardly seems to change at all....

If you transpose the M9 adobe WB figures (temp tint) to an identical M240 embedded image I get virtually identical images in terms of colour profile. This works with almost every image in a wide range of situations. It corrects all the aberrent OOC WB warmth and red balance effects that I have seen in my M240 images.....

Embedded versus embedded doesnt work. Both cameras were set to Auto WB.

I'm sure there is some sense behind this behaviour but I cannot fathom what is going on....

My guess is that once Leica finalize the color in the M240 firmware, Adobe will make the modifications needed to come up with an Adobe Standard rendition for the camera.
