This is wonderful!! and lovely b&w.

They look like a herd of ponies all of

the same breed, age and size.

I wonder why they have been corralled,

where they have been and where they

are going.

It's a really terrific shot.

These horses are the last wild horses in Germany. They live in an area called Merfelder Bruch. On the last saturday in may each year, they were herd in an arena to catch the one year old stallions out of this herd. I took this photo last year in this arena.

Joerg,

Thank you for that information. It is good to see

original breeds of horses are being preserved in those

countries that are fortunate enough to have them.

If you have taken more images of this "roundup" perhaps

you would consider posting them as well, this post has made

me (for one) want to see more of the same, it is so outstanding in

every way!

Regards,

Dee.

Joerg,

Thank you very much for posting these extra images.

They are great!! It is wonderful that you chose to photograph

this in b&w, it really works well with all the subtle tones etc.,

"Wildferdefang" (however it translates) must be a fascinating

event to see, I envy you the opportunity.

Dee.
