stuny Posted March 19, 2013 Share #1  Posted March 19, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Quietly motoring on Lake Gatun, which is part of the Panama Canal, we came upon an area where snail kites quite logically reside since they can fish all day for snails and use minimal energy doing so. First they lighten their load (defacate), jump, sink a bit building air speed, soar a bit, and then skim the water with their talons almost always coming up with a snail. Then they perch once more and use their specially adapted beaks to remove the animal from its shell.  Welcome, dear visitor!
