Basalt cliffs on the Monaro

This post may interest K-H and hopefully not bore everyone else.

 

This part of the Monaro region is a made up of lava and pyroclastic

flows that occurring circa 30-50 million years ago. Since then it has

been weathered away to present this lovely patina.

Sure it's not the Rio Grande Canyon but its kinda a mini version.

To give a sense of scale the trees are full sized willows maybe

20 feet high.
