algrove Posted March 17, 2013 Share #21 Â Posted March 17, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Mark2007- Â Sell the e55 and keep the e49. MATE's are difficult to find in every country not just yours. Your choice, but since Thailand is normally a brightly sunlit country f4 OK. If you shoot a night or low light then f2.0 or f1.4 recommended. Â Did not see your question about M camera and R lenses so skip this different subject for now. NOTE: There is a reason MATE's cost US$5-6k and R 35-70/4.0 cost less than US$1k. If you want a good 35-70 R lens, then it must be the 35-70/2.8 at US$11k. If talking R lenses why not get the 28-90/2.8-4.5 at around US$4k, last I looked.
Advertisement Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 Hi algrove, Take a look here MATE vs Summicron28. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
MarkP Posted March 17, 2013 Share #22 Â Posted March 17, 2013 You sounded a very simple minded person.C'mon, this is very personal, how could it be simple? Â Yes. I'm a bloody simple moron Unless he is a collector why should he keep two MATES if it limits the ability to purchase some extraordinary prime lenses? The OP asked a reasonable question and I (and others above) think the answer is simple! Â Â Â As Algrove writes above, the R zooms you suggest are not of the quality of some of their rarer and more expensive peers. Unfortunately $4K is an exceptionally good price for a 2.8-4.5/28-90 R. Â Â Â As Algrove writes above, the R zooms you suggest are not of the quality of some of their rarer and more expensive peers. Unfortunately $4K is an exceptionally good price for a 2.8-4.5/28-90 R. Â I've never encountered 35-70mm f2.8 or 28-90mm. yes, i've heard the superority of 35-70 2.8 and so of its super rareness. so i didn't include it in my suggestion. it's good to know 28-90 is another good alternative. i stand coorected. but even the not-so-top-notched 35-70 f4 is far better than tri-elmar mate within the comparable range. MarkP Posted March 17, 2013 Share #24 Â Posted March 17, 2013 But the OP hasn't mentioned an M or R lenses, only whether he should sell one of the MATEs and buy a 28 Summicron. Â Can anyone else comment on the 4.0/35-70 Rs IQ?

MarkP Posted March 17, 2013 Share #26 Â Posted March 17, 2013 the summicron 28 is one of Leica's best lenses, I really miss her. Â You are so right. I am constantly amazed by the results I get with this lens. That is why I think that the OP should get one seeing he's mentioned it. Â Â Perhaps you should renew your acquaintance with your old girlfriend
