M 240 profiles......

Some rather odd decisions by Leica here ..... or maybe they didn't anticipate inveterate fiddlers like me screwing things up......

The default profile is fine JPG ...... and iso 800..... which is a bit bizarre and this cannot be changed.... oh well.... no big deal..... but I'd have preferred to to a seperate snapshot mode like the M9 that set somewhere else.... as it causes problems as below....

I also would have thought file naming would be a global setting ...... but in fact has to be set for each profile ..... and the default...... as I have a uniform numbering system for all my M bodies (we are now up to 400Leica and L400XXXX) this caused a bit of confusion at first.....

.... and reset sets both numbers and folders back to the default.... but again seperately for each profile.

If you use a saved profile and then drop back to default by accident ... or on purpose.... you will find the folder and file numbering will also have reverted to 100Leica etc..... as it does not save this. It then re-seeds all the numbering which overrides the profile settings ....I think this needs fixing .....

However ....I have to say that bracketing for HDR on auto is fantastic...... 5 shots in the blink of an eye.... which makes the usual problems of movement much less of an issue.... although if you press the shutter again too quickly it locks the camera and you need to take the battery out ........:o ....... errrrrr... haven't we seen this somewhere before .....

No doubt there will be a few more oddities..... but generally I'm very impressed.

Unfortunately it poured with rain yesterday and today its dense fog so I doubt if any photos will be worth posting..... :o

oh...... and I am pleased to say my Telyt 400/5 (and 280, 200) works perfectly with just a TXB00 adapter ..... although focus peaking is defeated by a combination of low contrast and fog today...... still... managed some perfectly in focus hand held shots of birds in the garden :)
