I dont think so, it looks like he is just selling information. Information that is available for free.

There are several apps that are free that work great. I use the Eyefi app and SD card, sets up in 5 minutes. There are several other options as well.

Thanks for the heads up. I viewed the YouTube video of the Eyefi App you are talking about here: Transcend Wi-Fi SD Card -- Set Your Photos Free - YouTube

How cool is that? Thank you very much for pointing this out. Is this what you are talking about and does it work with the M?

Hi -

Got it. You are selling the information on how to set up the M and an iPad with WiFi to review pictures as you shoot. And, yes someone here or a group of us will probably figure it out and eventually share our findings here.

Is this what you do professionally; set up these sorts of things? Do you also have a professional photography company? Just curious...

Rick

I shoot for a living not sure what u mean by set up these things.

Set it up on the M and please show the video on this thread. Some of the WiFi cards have supported cameras and some are not supported. There are several Wifi cards and a couple of Apps. One App makes you delete the other before you can use it.

Agai, please set it up in 5 minutes.

Leica M9 and Eye-Fi

YouTube

I thought, what an idiot I am, I could have found this guys video and it would be all over. Problem, that guy is as I have been saying all along, using old iOS . Having multiple problems, downloads from M9 to iPhone AFTER the shots are taken.

Goes to studio, now with Nikon, has multiple problems.

Stay with me naysayers.

My transfers happened during shoot with no drop offs. This is getting funny.

Actually thanks for the video as this guy gets closer with a Leica Product. Oh, so we're clear, I was using an iPad 2 and not an iPad, the iPad 2 being the better product IMHO.

Please stay with me. Use it with a Leica not a SUPPORTED camera.Canon is a supported camera under the card manufacturer you keep mentioning. Said while "snapping fingers as in wake up".

That was the answer. You make your living as a photographer. That is not what I do for a living so, I don't understand the world of professional photographers. I don't understand what you do for a living and if it involved writing software to connect cameras to computer systems in order to display photos during shoots. I know nothing of the current software that is used to do this. Just curious how all of this works in the professional world. I thought maybe this is what your company does.

I have no experience at all of videography but is this the type of video the M could be reasonably expected to turn out? Hand held, no zooming, constant light conditions. What about sound, I feel certain the built-in mic would pick up breathing and handling noises, so an external mic would be required. Then there's editing to top and tail even a single shot, music to source, mix in. Sounds like a lot of work and as others (Thorsten) have commented, getting into video seems to be the start of a slippery slope.

Rick, I know nothing of these software things as well. Like you, I shoot in camera, SD card reader to LightRoom. I am not a software engineer, but I am proud as smack as I figured this thing out after hours and hours. I wouldn't give up. Now digi whatever tells us he can do it in 5 minutes with a camera that is not supported by any of the software. I wish he had done a Youtube video that I could have watched .

I don't need the money to be quite honest. I make my living in several ways from going back to my specialty of Endodontics, putting some money in the coffers, then take off for some foreign place to shoot for an NGO for free. I am also a successful Options Trader, but like most, do best when the Bull is running.

Every once in a while a cool job presents itself and I make as much from it as i can so when the IRS comes knocking, which they have, i can show income in the photography column to help with wire offs.

If you ordered a 240, have an iPad 2, it's yours for free. Swear to God, i'll call you and walk you through. It's cool!

Yes, I'm in the right thread; you present a video showing your near real-time feed to an iPad and I was interested whether the video is the sort of thing which could be taken using the M in video mode. Apologies if you think it's off-topic.

William -

Too funny, you are a dentist! I promised myself I am not going to make any of the usual jokes. I didn't know if you were a programer, photographer or what. But, you do have an interesting group of hobbies and interests. This place never ceases to amaze me.

The bull is running for now. I think the top-pickers have been helping you by shorting into this rise...

Best Regards,

Rick

Simply stated, a linear list of the set-up is available if anyone is interested, only as it took me 8 hair pulling hours. Anyone who figures it out is welcome to post it here for free..

In my small studio I shoot very much like the setup in your video. In my case it is with Nikon, but would love to do it with the M once I receive it. I suspect I have spent far more than eight hours struggling to make wireless image transfer work even though that feature is fully supported by Nikon. Time well spent though, as the clients love it. I suspect those who minimize the effort involved have not tried it themselves. Thanks for showing that it can be done with the M.

I don't get it. Eye-Fi and Shutter Snitch was a doddle to set up on my systems. I just followed both companies instructions and it worked, first go, without a hitch for me on both iPad and Laptop. It works as well as what the minuscule Wifi Antennae will allow.

I can't imagine why the Leica M would be any different since it's just a DNG+JPG.

I think an ad hoc link between modern wireless devices is pretty straightforward as you experienced. In my case I am integrating the camera into my small business wireless network. So a router, data encryption, firewalls, and an FTP server application are involved. That took me a while to sort out.

Oh, I had a crack at that. Once. I tried it with the original Canon FTP file transmitter. You needed a degree in IT, an ability to read japanese, a very patient mind, a lot of time and not to be left with any thing sharp :)

Need less to say the file transmitter went back into the box. That original transmitter was famous for being nigh on impossible to set up.

It's a tough crowd sometimes :)

Fwiw, I liked the video. It's always nice when something new - or simpler - is discovered.

Philipus,

Thanks for putting the whole reason I did it in one simple phrase. Thank you. Just deleted an email from a person who stated he doesn't like the idea I do porno now. At the same time he doesn't like the idea he didn't get to see the model behind the parabolic.

The shoot was set up through a client, I thought I would have a little fun with it, in a playful school child way. Model loved it. She had lingerie or more on the whole time. Do they have Victoria Secret in other countries. The images in the windows outside every retail outlet in the US are much more revealing.

The only reason for the shot with bars was everyone was bugging to see results. Again, I thought I would have fun, blur the model and put bars (she was wearing panty and bra), just to add tension. Now I shoot porno?? With a girl with a chemistry degree. Just having fun.
