Of North American species this bird most closely resembles a Harris' Hawk almost completely molted from juvenile plumage to adult. The Harris' Hawk is often flown by falconers.

 

I had to check the dictionary, and unfortunately Wikipedia writes, that hawk is what I knew as buzzard. Strange. At least a "buteo" or a "falco".
