I *wish* people WOULDN'T do that... I have been trying to find an un-buggered example for some time now.

 

Bill I understand your feeling. It seems like sacrilege to do so, but certainly on the M8 it makes the lens so much more usable. I had two 40C at the time, both in original state. One was fine, the other suffered from bad focus shift. I sold the good one to fund a CLA for the bad one.

In the process of the CLA, it seemed more appropriate to code it and modify it :)

 

To bring up the 35 mm lines one can also jam the frame lever in that position. I posted that solution for that a few years ago. Don't know about the M9 but on the M8, the inside of 35 mm frames is perfect for this lens!
