A great shot but I hope you cropped this a lot. I would not want to be that close to the cat.

thx for your comment :-) The park where I took this shots is privately owned and the owner held special photo events where you could go directly to the fence.

The cougar is cropped just a little. The lion is not cropped (X1), no glass, just through the fence. Seems lions are more relaxed ...

Great shots!

I live in cougar country!

Now I know what to look out for! :(

thx for your comment. Lucky you, there is still enough place in your country for even the bigger cats. Here in Europe employment opportunities for cougars are quite limited, so they have to take strange jobs:

Guessing those are "stuff" or well-trained cats!

exactely :-) And training cougars is quite tricky, you will rarely find them in the arena. The trainer could kiss an scritch his tigers, but did not even touch any cougar with his hands. Seems they look cute, but are quite agressive.

maybe you can tell me my mistake?

...nothing to do with your photography, doppelwurst - I'm just not a fan of animals being held in captivity for our temporary amusement.

well - I know about the problem, and in theory I am with you. In practice at least I can guarantee, that their trainer really loves cats. He is an elder animal tamer, who - after terrific times in the big circuses of Central Europe - now has his little zoo for retirement with his animals.

His opinion seems plausible to me, that animals in captivity first must not be bored. Thats why his zoo employs animators and he still trains some of his cats. And yes, showtime lures paying visitors, and we all have to work for our food.
