profus Posted February 18, 2013 Share #1 Posted February 18, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, I have noticed some price changes - at least here in Denmark... An example: 50 Summilux ASPH - price for 2 months ago : DKK 23.200,- ( ca. € 3093 ) - and this price was the same both for the black and silver version of it... The price today is ( and they're both in stock! ): DKK 24.700,- ( ca. € 3293 ) for the black one and DKK 25.900,- ( ca. € 3453 ) for the silver one!! 200 € ( 360 € ) increase! I have also noticed the increasing of the price for the 50 Summicron. I haven't check the other lenses yet... Have you noticed this yet in you countries? Some general move by Leica before introduction of new M or something that's just happening in Denmark? Thanks!
Advertisement Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Hi profus, Take a look here Prices on Leica M lenses - UP?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
firstlight Posted February 18, 2013 Share #2 Posted February 18, 2013 Hi profus, Yes prices are going up - If I remember correctly there was already a thread in this forum about it.. I can confirm that these prices are matching with my local prices (Switzerland). My intention is that they will climb up even more once the M hits the market... If you want a leica lense, it's cheaper to buy it earlier ...or used
marknorton Posted February 18, 2013 Share #3 Posted February 18, 2013 (edited) Leica have traditionally increased their prices at the end of the year, it's one of the things they have learned to do on time. If you look at Leica Camera Berlin, the black and silver versions of the lens are now different (€3150 and €3300) where they used to be the same so it does look like this is a change everywhere. As for whether the prices have increased generally, I expect they have. I have the impression Leica lens price inflation comfortably exceeds general inflation in all but the most extreme Banana Republics. Those prices include German VAT at 19%, VAT in Denmark is 25% which will account for much of the difference between these German and Danish prices. A lens costing €3150 in Germany should cost €3308 in Denmark, close to your figure. Edited February 18, 2013 by marknorton
Tonki-M Posted February 18, 2013 Share #4 Posted February 18, 2013 when has there been anything but UP most luxury/premium products get a price increase every one or two years, why not Leica? Cartier, Patek Philippe, Chanel, Hermes, etc's prices are going up every year.
profus Posted February 18, 2013 Author Share #5 Posted February 18, 2013 Tnx for your replies...guess I was lucky to buy my 50 Lux before this latest increase... I hope Leica knows what they're doing with all that price increasing - just not so sure about it...
microview Posted February 18, 2013 Share #6 Posted February 18, 2013 Leica Mayfair has just posted updated price list. Unfortunately, the document seems to be corrupted and much of the information is missing!
algrove Posted February 18, 2013 Share #7 Posted February 18, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) When I asked the Leica store in the US about 2013 prices, I was told just a few items had pluses in their columns, but I cannot get an official price list here. Maybe I am looking in the wrong places.

I have the impression Leica lens price inflation comfortably exceeds general inflation in all but the most extreme Banana Republics. I also see some increases in the Leica Store Munich prices. The chrome 35 Cron is also more expensive than the black version. I also think the 50 Summarit increased 100 Euro, but I might be misremembering. Prices at B&H though are unchanged. The chrome lenses are the same prices as the black equivalents.
