all:

Just purchased my first Leica, black M6 classic- its coming in the mail. The Leica dealer did not have a 35 in stock within my price range of $1500 or under, they did have a Leica lens 28/2.4 for $999. in great condition which they are shipping with the M6, to try and feel it out for a week-get them both Tuesday. I know I have to educate myself on the world of Leica lens & non Leica lens options but-

Now to my question:

1-I have a Fuji x100 and the lens is a 35mm which I really like that FOV. Would it make sense to also have 35 on the M6 as well? Ill never have them both with me. My goal is to live with one lens on the M6 for a year.

2-Whats your view of the 28mm on the M6? The extra width on the x100 would of been nice to have at times but cant compare to a different camera.

3-Also, what would be your recommendation of a 35mm lens for $1500 and under that are well built & have a decent speed, Leica and non-Leica and whats the different feeling of the lens? If there is a URL out there that I should know of, that would also be great. Again-

Thank you in advance- daniel.

35 leica lens: summarit

i guess you mean a 28 2.8 (is it the latest asph version? if yes I highly recommend it). might be worth considering but look at the viewfinder magnification. you should avoid a 28 on a 0.85x body. best would be 0.58. 0.72 is fine.

otherwise you might consider a 50 too (the summarit is within your budget, so is the zeiss planar and sonnar)

good information here would be: does the 35 restrict you by doing some pictures? e.g. portraits or would you like to have a wider view sometimes?

what viewfinder magnification does your M6 has?

Yes- I made a mistake, its a 2.8. The magnification is 0.72. regarding the focal length, only very few times I would of liked a few steps back for a wider view, otherwise the 35 on my Fuji x100 is a good view for me. I have enjoyed living with one camera/fixed lens and believe its bettered my skills & eye. Thought it would be a little boring to have the same lens on it but being I will only have one camera with me- it really doesn't matter. I see normally in a 35ish FOV.... I did read about the summarit and seems like it may be a good option. I friend is stopping over after I get it with his M6 and a few primes so I can compare....
