wattsy Posted March 16, 2013 Share #21 Posted March 16, 2013 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Seems a bit excessive to me. So a job requiring £75 of parts and £394 of labour (at Feb €/£ rates of exchange) ends up costing £778. Nice quick earner for the dealer who only has to post the camera to Solms. I think the moral of the story is that you can save a few quid by spending £50 to FedEx your camera directly to Solms. Leica Mayfair might be another option - I don't think they charge anything on top of the Solms cost to handle a repair. Advertisement Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 Hi wattsy, Take a look here Aperture or Solms for repair?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
mmradman Posted March 16, 2013 Share #22 Posted March 16, 2013 I think the moral of the story is that you can save a few quid by spending £50 to FedEx your camera directly to Solms. Leica Mayfair might be another option - I don't think they charge anything on top of the Solms cost to handle a repair. Dealer told me exactly the same that they don't charge a penny, except include VAT. I have now sent a feedback to Leica Service asking for explanation of the discrepancy between two prices - if cost is justified i would like to see it itemised.
