Nick De Marco Posted February 27, 2013 Author Share #21 Posted February 27, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks for that Dirk, very interesting Well, perhaps I shouldn't thank you though as now you have made me want to find another lens when before I had been satisfied. Just to make it worse, could you post any photos taken with this wonderfiul sounding Nikon, or the elusive Konica copy? Would love to see. menos I M6 Posted March 1, 2013 Share #24 Posted March 1, 2013 It is extremely difficult to illustrate the level of performance of the W-Nikkor via tiny web sized JPGs, but let me show one of the first quick shots, I took when I received the lens, that completely blew me away. A casual shot wide open on the M Mono and a 200% (!) crop of the same shot. The actual resolution of this 60 year old lens is nothing short of astonishing. Even more astonishing is, that in contrast to other lenses from that era the W-Nikkor retains this kind of performance over the whole frame. Extremely high resolution and high contrast in a lens faster than ƒ2 in the early 1950's, when other renowned optical companies needed another 30 or 40 years to accomplish this - always amazes me. 35 ƒ1.8 W-Nikkor LTM - first shots - portrait by teknopunk.com, on Flickr 35 f1.8 W-Nikkor LTM - first shots - portrait - crop 2-1 by teknopunk.com, on Flickr 3

Mascarpone Posted March 6, 2013 Share #26 Posted March 6, 2013 Canon's 35f1.8 has a reputation as a decent lens. The 35f2 has a reputation as a great lens. These tiny lenses were nicknamed "japanese Summicron".
Nick De Marco Posted March 7, 2013 Author Share #27 Posted March 7, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Canon's 35f1.8 has a reputation as a decent lens. The 35f2 has a reputation as a great lens. These tiny lenses were nicknamed "japanese Summicron". That is correct, but I kind of prfer the 35/1.8. I have both and the 35/2 is more contrasty, just like a summicron in fact, whereas for my old 1950s cameras I prefer a sharp 35 which isn't quite so hhigh in contrast. But I love them both. zmix Posted July 8, 2013 Share #29 Posted July 8, 2013 (edited) Jupiter-12 2,8/35mm. Most people in the Dutch Analogue Photo Forum can not see the difference between this lens and my Leica Elmarit. I love that lens... Edited July 8, 2013 by zmix
CHP Posted December 15, 2023 Share #30 Posted December 15, 2023 Have you done a side by side comparison with the Canon LTM 35mm 1.8 and the 2.0? I'm hesitating between the two.
