Querying part number for ever ready case for new M (240)

Question: Has the LEICA M grown in size? Why so?

Jesko v. Oeynhausen: The body has NOT grown in size. Its thickness is eactly the same as the LEICA M9 and the LEICA M-E. The confusion stems from the way the body has been measured. The distance from the lens socket to the thickest part of the display is 42mm. The thickness of the M9 was given as 39mm. This, however, was the thickness of the top cap. The top cap of the LEICA M is less than 1mm more than that.

Alfred Schopf: The bodies have still the same size. The batteries are much larger because their capacity has increased.

The case is different for the M240 compared to the M8/M9. It has to be because of the bigger screen and different back panel layout. I think it's 14547. Cost in the UK is £240.

Whether any of the accessories will be available before the camera itself, I have no idea.

Your information was correct, and now I have one on order along with the camera.

Now if I could just get someone to outbid me on e-bay for a 14872. I saw one for a good price out there and bid on it based upon the two responses from our moderators. Oh well, easy come, easy go.

Hi,

I've pre-ordered a half case from "Luigi's Leicatime".

He told me he should receive an M 240 soon and it will take him 20 days to make it.

Love his work.

It should look quite similar to the ones made for the M8/9.

Considering the huge amount of highly skilled research and development, along with fantastic technical ability and know how, that is then matched with beautiful design aesthetics to reach these completed works of art, the case is a total eyesore !! Sloppy appearance that looks like new boy was told to make something to stuff it in . There is far better available

In my case, i really like to have a grip (I'm coming from 5D mark II) and i first though to take the official Leica grip. But after seeing/handling the Luigi's half cases at my Leica store, and specially the ones with the hand grip integrated, i though that was far more sexy looking.

I found his hand work to be very satisfying for a Leica body ;)

Hi Mark, I personally like the Luigi cases as the materials look so much better and durable than this case. If you don't like this style, then you may not like the JnK ones either or the Mr Zhou alternative. I think you make a very good point about Italian styling capabilities, Leica need to make a phone call, and employ someone with the design skills behind the Ferrari 458 !!
