The MM-battery is marked: 3.7 V / 1860 mA / 6.9 Wh.

On older batteries it says: 1800 mA instead.

LEICA improved them, the difference is hardly noticeable in

normal photographic practice.

leica don't manufacture batteries, they didn't 'improve' them. they're all made in china, just like a Leica branded battery is. the difference in 1800mA battery and 1860mA is small it makes little to no difference other than a different number printed on a sticker on the battery.

Thank you very much - not much difference that i find it necessary to invest in batteries, in addition to the ones I use in M9

Yes, I believe this has been the standard 'M9' battery spec for a while. The battery in my Monochrome is exactly the same as the one that came with my M9-P (bought a year ago). Both cameras work fine with older M9 and M8 batteries (I still have one from 2007 working fine).
